DIVINE COFFEE. Bold and strong. As I said in another K-cup review, I have a love-hate relationship with my Keurig coffeemaker on a lot of levels. I love the extreme convenience of the fresh, one-cup-at-a-time Keurig coffeemaker but have never been happy with the K-cup selection. For those of us who love strong rich coffee, the coffee is uniformly anemic and disappointing. I have literally tried ALL of the dark and bold varieties and haven’t been really happy in the long-term with any of them. I had settled on Green Mountain Double Black Diamond extra bold until I found Peet’s.I ordered a sample of this and before I even finished drinking the cup, I was fully AWAKE and online to order the biggest box available from Amazon. NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND! I’ve been a devotee of Peet’s for some years now. I was excited to finally see Peet’s in the k cups. The Major was as delicious as it has always been for about 3 months, then suddenly it changed… to some sort of dark roast Colombian/central american, like Green Mountain “Dark Magic” (you cannot blindly tell these 2 apart any longer) and a very close flavor profile to Caribou’s “Obsidian”. The Major in the bag still tastes the way I’ve known it to taste for years now. As Peet’s was recently purchased by a conglomerate from Chicago FOR THE WHOPPING SUM OF 1.3 BILLION DOLLARS!!! (That’s a gob o’ cash for a boutique roaster) I and many others can easily see the switch for profit from their all time best seller. Buy it in the bag for the real deal and load your own cups, you won’t be sorry. A side note, I find it curious that a boutique roaster upheld for their “Deep Roast” would only offer “middle of the roads”, House blend, French, Brazil Minais, and…
